Iris Becker Elementary

Thank You for Your Support

Dear Parents,

On Thursday, September 25, 2014 a situation occurred on the Becker campus at dismissal between a current student and the brother of a current student.  Sadly, this incident resulted in a physical confrontation and prompted some regrettable words between adults and children, culminating with the Dearborn Police being called.

I am writing to you to ensure you that prompt action will be taken by both the Dearborn Police and Dearborn Public Schools.  A thorough investigation is under way by both agencies, and consequences for these actions will follow.

As always, our number one priority at Becker Elementary and all of Dearborn Public Schools is the safety of your children.  Events like those that occurred on Thursday will not be tolerated and will be dealt with promptly.  We are proud of the Becker Community both in and out of school, and take great pride in our academic successes and our commitment to positive and harmonious relationships.

Moving forward, and to continue to promote our Becker Family and sense of community, middle school and high school students must be with a parent if they are here to pick up a sibling.  There are no exceptions.

If you should have further concerns, please feel free to contact me at school.

Warm regards,

David Higgins                                                                                                                           Principal, Iris Becker Elementary
